Getting moving estimates

Three in-person or video estimates.

5 min read

A good estimate is based on seeing what you own. Comparing several helps you spot a quote that's too good to be true.

Types of estimates

  • Binding: the price is set for the items and services listed
  • Non-binding: an approximate price; the final cost depends on actual weight and services
  • Binding not-to-exceed: you pay the lower of the estimate or the actual cost

Get it right

  • Get at least three estimates
  • Show the estimator everything, including the garage and attic
  • Get every estimate in writing
  • Be wary of quotes far below the others
